The Tomball Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) has succeeded in helping another company locate in the Tomball Business & Technology Park. JDR Cable Systems, which announced on July 29 plans to relocate their U.S. headquarters to Tomball from Houston, worked with the TEDC to secure a grant agreement from the City of Tomball.
The Deal
The grant agreement will assist with the construction of the facility and the relocation of approximately 45 employees and the creation of 20 new positions within the first two years of operation in Tomball. An economic impact analysis estimates the five-year net benefit of this project to be $451,970.
Finding Their Place in Tomball
JDR Cable Systems joins a growing list of businesses in the successful TEDC-designed Tomball Business & Technology Park. Developed by Welcome Group and financed by Woodforest National Bank, the 65,000 square-foot facility will be located at 2012 S. Persimmon and will be constructed by Houston-based KDW. The project, KDW’s first ground-up project in Tomball, will feature 45,000 square-feet of assembly space and 20,000 square-feet of office space. JDR is expected to occupy the new facility February 1, 2021.
JDR Cable Systems designs, engineers, and manufactures subsea power cables, as well as umbilical cables consisting of components for power distribution, data transfer, monitoring, and remote control of offshore facilities. The company was formed in the early 1990’s and was acquired in 2017 by TFKable Group, one of Europe’s top producers of cables and wires.
