Jorge Campos’s vision to bring a state-of-the-art indoor recreation facility to Tomball came to fruition with the grand opening of Element Sportsplex in February 2022. Filling a need in Tomball, the 44,000 square foot recreational hub has already received considerable buzz. With programs and activities for all ages, Element Sportsplex is being filled with young athletes, weekend warriors, and everyone in between.
Campos, a Tomball resident, experienced the city’s growth firsthand and observed the need for a facility like Element Sportsplex. A sports enthusiast, Campos used his enterprising spirit to set in motion plans to create the ideal indoor facility for sports and activities. He worked with the City of Tomball and the Tomball Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) to make the project possible, including receiving a grant from the TEDC to help fund infrastructure improvements. With construction complete and Element now open, Campos is relieved and excited about the future.
“We’re so blessed. I look back at the journey and give a lot of credit to God for working things out. There were a lot of uncertainties during COVID, but we persevered. I’m excited we’re here, but the job’s not done,” said Campos.
Element Sportsplex contains volleyball courts, basketball courts, concession stands, a pro shop, office space, and a lobby for visitors. The facility is home to Texas Legacy Volleyball Club. The club has already hosted tournaments at the Theis Lane complex, drawing hundreds of visitors to Tomball.

Entrenched in Tomball, Campos was confident he understood the community’s need and desire for a place like Element Sportsplex. In the month that the facility has had its doors open, this belief has been strengthened.
“Reception in the community has been really good. Everyone has been friendly and interested in what we are offering,” said Campos.
The offerings Campos discussed will continue to evolve. Community feedback will be key in determining what sports and programs Element Sportsplex presents. Currently, Element offers youth camps, open gyms, court rentals, and adult leagues. Campos is already preparing for a busy spring break and summer hosting tournaments and camps. He says you can expect the best when you visit the complex.
You can expect a top notch facility to accommodate everyone. This is a place you can meet with likeminded individuals with the same passions. We want to be known as the community’s facility. That’s why we’re focused on providing the programs Tomball wants in order to stay active.
