Tomball EDC Finalizes Purchase of First Baptist Church

TOMBALL, TEXAS (April 12, 2023) – The Tomball Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) closed on the purchase of the First Baptist Church property at 401 Oxford Street in Old Town Tomball. The 4.63 acre property was acquired by the TEDC for $4,590,759.50. The TEDC is leasing the property back to First Baptist Church for 36 months. Tom Condon Jr. of Colliers represented TEDC in the purchase.

The purchase of the property furthers TEDC’s commitment to redevelop and revitalize Old Town Tomball. Establishing capital projects that encourage growth and investment in Old Town is a stated goal in the 2020-2023 TEDC Economic Development Strategic Plan. Along with local stakeholders, the TEDC will consider how to best utilize the newly acquired property.

“This investment is impactful for Tomball and the future of development in Old Town. We are excited by the potential this property offers to enhance commerce and culture in the heart of Tomball,” said TEDC Executive Director Kelly Violette.

Tomball City Council unanimously approved the TEDC purchase of the property at the March 6 Council Meeting.

“The TEDC’s purchase of the First Baptist Church property is a win-win for everyone involved,” said Tomball Mayor Lori Klein Quinn. “The City of Tomball cherishes Old Town and we anticipate this investment will bring new opportunities to enjoy our city’s culture and charm.”
