The second annual Tomball Community Career Fair attracted several hundred job seekers exploring career opportunities with more than a dozen hiring businesses and organizations. A joint effort between Tomball Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) and Lone Star College-Tomball (LSC-Tomball) Career and Transfer Connections, the event featured hiring entities representing construction, manufacturing, education, finance, fitness, and more. The event was held April 16 at Beckendorf Conference Center on LSC-Tomball’s campus.

The Community Career Fair is a key initiative in the TEDC’s efforts to support workforce development in Tomball. Partnering with LSC-Tomball, the TEDC amplifies its reach and better serves the community.

“Workforce development success is best achieved through collaboration and there is no better partner for the Tomball Economic Development Corporation than LSC-Tomball. We are encouraged by the success of the Community Career Fair and the opportunities it creates for employers and job seekers,” noted Tiffani Wooten, TEDC Assistant Director. “Tomball is a premier place to do business and find a career. This event showcases how the entire ecosystem comes together to make that true.”

“This event is a unique partnership between Lone Star College-Tomball, the Tomball Economic Development Corporation and our local employers. The best talent is sometimes the talent you grow in your own backyard, so we connect our campus talent and the community’s talent with our employers to have a mutual benefit,” offered Anthony Froelich, LSC-Tomball Academic and Career Advisor. “An event like the Community Career Fair provides a great snapshot of the variety of employers in the Tomball area and allows students and community members to connect the dots on how to apply their skills with jobs available here.”

LSC-Tomball students and community job seekers visited the hiring booths, examining available careers. The chance to examine opportunities available in Tomball is tremendously valuable, according to Alejandro Camacaro, LSC-Tomball student and volunteer in the LSC-Tomball Career Services Department.

“This event has huge meaning for the community and students at Lone Star College-Tomball. Connecting with all the employers here is a great way to get into the workforce. I’m very happy to be a part of this event, to see how much it has grown and how it is helping people in Tomball,” said Camacro.

The Community Career Fair highlights the importance of collaboration in achieving workforce development goals. The TEDC looks forward to building on this year’s success and its longstanding partnership with LSC-Tomball to create pipelines for students and Tomball residents.
