28 businesses participated in the April 24 event at Beckendorf Conference Center on LSC-Tomball’s campus. TEDC has a strategic goal to partner with local education institutions to support workforce initiatives. The Tomball Community Career Fair is one component of these efforts.
The career fair attracted nearly 140 job seekers from varying ages looking to bolster their careers. Job openings in health care, hospitality, manufacturing, insurance, education, and more were on display showcasing Tomball’s wide-ranging opportunities.
“I am pleased with the turnout and diversity of businesses represented,” said Tiffani Wooten, TEDC Assistant Director. “It is encouraging to witness the connections between companies and job seekers. This partnership with Lone Star College-Tomball is key in delivering the right people for critical jobs in Tomball.”
“The event was very successful,” offered Anthony Froelich, LSC-Tomball Advisor and the college’s coordinator for the event. “There are great opportunities for our students in Tomball. This lays the foundation for a very bright future.”
LSC-Tomball hosted a career series prior to the Tomball Community Career Fair. The series included workshops on resume writing, dressing for success, and interview tips.
The success of the event has LSC-Tomball and the TEDC discussing plans to hold the event annually. The Tomball Career Fair pairs well with TEDC’s other workforce efforts, including the newly launched Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). Offering several avenues for companies and talent to engage keeps the TEDC and LSC-Tomball on a successful workforce development path.
