Tomball EDC Earns Three 2024 Excellence in Economic Development Awards

TOMBALL, TEXAS (September 9, 2024) – The Tomball Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) received three 2024 Excellence in Economic Development Awards from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). The TEDC earned one silver and two bronze Excellence Awards. TEDC staff will be honored at the IEDC Annual Conference in Denver, Colo., September 15-18.

Silver was obtained by TEDC in the Multimedia Promotion division for its “Success Stories” video campaign. The videos highlighted Tomball businesses, Aloha Beauty Lounge, Houston Poly and Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions. “Success Stories” also received recognition from IEDC in 2023.

Bronze Excellence Awards were presented to the TEDC in the categories of Magazine & Newsletter and Talent Development & Retention. The Tomball Economic Development Update, the TEDC’s quarterly newsletter, comprehensively shares key updates to raise awareness of economic development and encourage economic growth in Tomball. Each edition offers new insights, updates, and stories about the people, businesses, and organizations that make Tomball an ideal destination.

TEDC partnered with Baker Hughes and Tomball Independent School District (TISD) to create a STEM program that brings together Baker Hughes professionals and TISD eighth-grade students. The semester-long program, which launched during the 2022-23 school year and continued in 2023-24, offers students the opportunity to partner with Baker Hughes employees to participate in hands-on activities, study cutting-edge technologies and explore STEM careers.

Each year IEDC looks specifically for economic development organizations, government entities, initiatives, and programs that have demonstrated consistent, exemplary performance in the economic development profession, leading the execution of projects that have a significant impact on revitalizing communities, and playing a major role in shaping and improving the practice of economic development.
