 Health care jobs are booming in northwest Houston.

Health care is following population growth across the area, with new hospitals, specialists, emergency care facilities and nursing homes being built and expanding around the region.

Houston-based NewQuest Properties has plans to develop the Grand Parkway Town Center on 63 acres if the 153 tract, which will include retail giant Sam's Club, other major retailers, and restaurants.

1. Hufsmith-Kohrville Road widening

Harris County continues the expansion of Hufsmith-Kohrville Road. Construction on Segment 1,
which will be widened from two to four lanes from south of Spring Cypress Road to Hollow Glen Lane, is expected to be complete by March 15. Segment 6, which will span from Mahaffey Road to
FM 2920, is expected to be sent out for bid in the fourth quarter of 2016.

As area student enrollment hits record highs, private school and public higher education facilities are expanding to meet the growing college preparatory and workforce needs of Tomball and Magnolia students.

TOMBALL, TEXAS  (January 19, 2016) - Spirits were high among the standing-room only crowd on Friday, Jan. 15, as Lone Star College-Tomball (LSC-Tomball) hosted the ribbon cutting for its new satellite center, Lone Star College-Creekside (LSC-Creekside).

Community leaders in northwest Houston are taking a closer look at marketing as the Grand Parkway moves closer to completion.

Slated for a first quarter of 2016 opening, construction on the Grand Parkway continues to progress.

Just last week, Zachry-Odebrecht Parkway Builders sent out an email stating they had reached a milestone with the 100 percent completion of beams and bridge decks stretching the 38-mile roadway.

The Grand Parkway’s segments F-G will allow for East Montgomery County and surround communities to travel to other parts of the county and Houston easier.

Motorists in north Houston expecting to use the city’s third outer loop in 2015 on their daily commutes will have to wait a few more months. Contractor Zachry-Odebrecht Parkway Builders has announced segments F-1, F-2 and G of the Grand Parkway will open sometime in the first quarter of 2016.

Both Tomball and Magnolia officials are making headway on large projects to control development, marking progress on their comprehensive plans and providing a framework for the future.

After more than a century as cities, Tomball and Magnolia adopted their comprehensive plans in 2009 and 2013, respectively, to guide future development in the rapidly growing area.
