Tomball EDC Recognized with Excellence in Economic Development Award

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA (October 15, 2019) – The Tomball Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) was honored by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) with a Silver Excellence in Economic Development Award for their 2018 Annual Report. TEDC Executive Director, Kelly Violette, and TEDC Assistant Director, Tiffani Wooten, accepted the award at the IEDC Annual Conference in Indianapolis.

“Our Annual Report tells the story of Tomball’s economic development success and reflects Tomball’s economic strength. Additionally, the report provides key insight for our stakeholders regarding TEDC projects and activities that have facilitated job creation, job retention, tax base enhancements and/or improved quality of life,” said Violette.

“We take pride in telling our story through the TEDC Annual Report. It is quite an honor to be recognized by the IEDC for our team’s effort,” Violette added.

IEDC's Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize the world's best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials, and the year's most influential leaders. 34 award categories honor organizations and individuals for their efforts in creating positive change in urban, suburban, and rural communities. Awards are judged by a diverse panel of economic and community developers from around the world, following a nomination process held earlier this year. IEDC received over 400 submissions from 12 countries.

The 2019 award marks the second consecutive year the TEDC has been honored for their Annual Report. The organization received a Bronze Excellence Award for the 2017 Annual Report at the 2018 IEDC Annual Conference in Atlanta.

“The recipients of IEDC’s Excellence in Economic Development awards represent the very best of economic development and exemplify the ingenuity, integrity, and leadership that our profession strives for each and every day”, said 2019 IEDC Board Chair, Tracye McDaniel. “We’re honored to recognize more than 100 communities for their excellent work, which forges new opportunities for our profession. We look forward to even greater participation from economic developers across the globe in the 2020 awards program.”
