Quality of Life

Tomball is a unique city with a culture deeply rooted in the traditional values of hard-working, patriotic, friendly, caring people.  It is located 28 miles from the heart of downtown Houston, but it has been able to maintain a small town community atmosphere with all the conveniences of the big city.

Recreation

Burroughs Park is a 330-acre Harris County recreational area recently developed just northeast of Tomball. It includes The Playground for All Children - a 10-acre playground designed to meet the needs of disabled children. It is completely wheelchair accessible and includes a lake, lighted and unlighted ball fields, concession stands, a pavilion, pathways, and picnic sites. Burroughs Park is a model for future park planning.

Spring Creek Park, another large county park, is located at the northwest edge of Tomball. With 110 covered picnic tables, basketball and tennis courts, ball fields, camping, RV hookups, and a playground, local residents are well served. Smaller local facilities include Juergens Park, Samuel Matthews Park, M.L.K. Park, Matheson Park, and Dyess Park.

The Tomball Sports Association, Cypress Creek YMCA, and Tomball Redcat Football groups provide youth sports programs.

Golfing activity in the area occurs at Tomball Country Club (18 holes), High Meadow Ranch Golf Club, and Houston Oaks Golf Club (36 holes). Tomball is near the 81-hole golfing complex in The Woodlands, and additional courses in the FM 1960 area.
